The Writers' Union of Canada records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Wah’s activities as a member of the Writers’ Union of Canada. Records include correspondence, publications of the union, and administrative records.

The records in this sub-series have been arranged into the following two sub-sub-series: Racial Minorities Committee records, and General records.

There are many ways records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Trower’s 2002 book "There Are Many Ways," which features the artwork of Jack Wise alongside Trower's poetry. Records includes early manuscripts from the 1960’s and 1970’s that were later used as a basis for the book, the original cover and early page proofs, as well as final and galley proofs.

Titanic images

Sub-series consists of a print of a drawing of the Titanic, as well as colour photographs, printed from digital images onto non-photographic paper, of underwater images from the Titanic and artefacts recovered from the Titanic.

Tolstoy connection

This sub-series consists of various records demonstrating Leo Tolstoy’s connection to the Doukhobor community and beliefs and his family relationship with Doukhobors, particularly Alexandra Tolstoy. This sub-series contains excepts of Tolstoy’s writings, clippings, brochures, Iskra articles about Tolstoy, published letter of Tolstoy to the Doukhobors and other related material.

"Tradition and Modernity" course development records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Daphne Marlatt's course "Tradition and Modernity," taught at Capilano College and Simon Fraser University. Records include articles, lecture notes, correspondence, syllabi, and other course material.

Trail, 1916-1919 notes and research records

Sub-series consists of Stonebanks’ notes and research records relating to Ginger Goodwin’s life between the years on 1916 and 1919, while he lived in Trail, working as a smelterman for the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada (later known as Cominco). Research materials in this sub-series correspond primarily to chapters 4 and 5 of Stonebanks’ book.

Typescripts

Sub-series consists of typescripts written by other authors and sent to Thesen. Materials includes poems, handwritten notes, annotated typescripts, a thesis chapter, book chapters, and other published and unpublished materials.

Typescripts and page proofs

Subseries contains typescripts and page proofs of poetry, books, chapbooks, essays, interviews, reviews, and columns. Includes notes and drafts, correspondence and resources.

United States groups

This sub-series contains records related to the United States’ organization involved in environment protection, and forest industry and forestry products trade, including workers’ unions involved in forestry. Many records refer to the forest issues existing in Canada and in other places in the world.

Unpublished

Sub-series consists of drafts and manuscripts of novels, short stories, plays, and poems written by June Skinner. Material is typed and handwritten. Some writings had no identifiable title or date.

USCC general records

This sub-series consists of the various records relating to the USCC and its executive members and their relationship with members of the Doukhobor community and Doukhobor and other organizations. This sub-series contains records related to trips that the USCC executive members took as representative of the USCC, including trips to Russia and relationship of with Russian Government in early 1990 and 2000s and joint cultural projects, such as restaurant at Tolstoy's estate. It also includes records related to the Doukhobor community, youth and sport organizations, history of Doukhobor leadership and other records.

Valhalla Park

This sub-series contains material related to the establishment of the Valhalla Provincial Park, a result of McCrory’s first campaign to save the Valhalla forests and mountains. The records include a draft of master plan, maps and plans for subsequent developments in the vicinity of the Park. This sub-series also includes 1984 Slocan Valley Development Guidelines prepared by the Province of BC.

Valhalla publications

This sub-series contains various publication created by Valhalla Wilderness Society and its closely affiliated organizations to provide information and highlight environmental issues in the province of British Columbia as well as to highlight various campaigns to protect the wilderness that Valhalla organized. The publications were created by Valhalla Wilderness Society, Canada’s Future Forests Alliance, Citizens for Environmentally Responsible Government and Perry Ridge Water Users Association. The material includes bulletins, newsletters, flyers, brochures and newspaper format.

Various organizations

This sub-series consists of record of various Doukhobor organizations: National Doukhobor Heritage Village, Kootenay and Boundary Citizen Committee on Doukhobor-Canadian Affairs, BC Unity Group, Doukhobor Society of Canada, Doukhobor Youth National Executive Council, and Saskatoon Society of Doukhobors. The records include meeting minutes, administrative records, financial records, correspondence, statements, newsletters and a photograph.

Verigins

This sub-series consists of government records relating to the life and leadership of Peter V. Verigin, Peter. P. Verigin and John J. Verigin. The bulk of the records relate to the death of Peter V. Verigin and resulting investigation as well as to the arrest and intent of deportation of Peter P. Verigin.

Video recordings

This sub-series contains 7 video recordings of various addresses and speeches made by BC Social Credit candidates in provincial and party leadership elections. One of the videos features tutorial on organizing of campaigns. This sub-series also includes digital video recording of promotional presentation of Jim Nielsen campaign.

Video recordings

Sub-series contains videocassettes of episodes of "The Sea Hunters," including the final cuts of episodes intended for broadcast, master tapes, and clips, as well as videocassettes for press kits.

Visual art

Sub-series consists of original works of art created by Mootoo in various media.
