University Committees

Sub-series consists of records relating to Bill Stewart's participation on the Board of Governors, CACUSS and on university committees. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, reports and publications.

University Committees

Sub-series consists of records relating to the Vice-President, Academic's involvement with the various university committees, both standing and ad hoc. The VP Academic's relation to particular committees may vary: the VP may be a member; or the senior administrator to which the committee reported; or a correspondent. For a general description of record types, see the description for the series of committee records and correspondence as a whole (series F-200-8).

University committees and task forces

Sub-series consists of records relating to the activities of various university committees and task forces. It is not always possible to determine whether the records represent the VP Academic's working file as a committee member or rather correspondence between the VP and the committee. Records include correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, policies, and legal advice.

University correspondence

Series consists of the Director's correspondence with other university departments. Activities and topics documented include development of the Arts Administration program within Continuing Studies, Faculty of Education meetings (reflecting the earlier Centre's administrative placement within this Faculty), reviews of program proposals by the University of British Columbia (included in correspondence with the Vice-President, Academic), the support campaign for the School (then the Centre for the Arts) in the face of large budget cuts in 1984-85, the School's participation in the university's Prison Education Program, and a study of the university Library's support of contemporary arts. Records include correspondence, reports, proposals, budgets and budget working papers, notes, bibliographies, CVs, mailing lists, questionnaires, reprints and other reference material.

University Correspondence

Sub-series consists of records relating to daily correspondence with the university community and includes union notices, salary and position negotiations, strike correspondence, policies and procedures, "AUCE 2 News Bulletins" and "Bulletin Board," information brochures, and a copy of the contract "Articles of Agreement between SFU and the Association of University and College Employees, Local 2." Also included are student and alumni questionnaires and survey statistics. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, reports, surveys, contracts, newsletters, and publications.

University matters - general

Sub-series consists of records relating to university matters in general. Activities and topics documented include the organization of the faculties, academic and strategic planning, IT planning, fundraising (including the President's Club and Challenge 2001 campaign), capital planning, proposal for an SFU Metrotown campus, faculty relations, women and the university (including correspondence with Academic Women), labour relations, and community relations. Records include correspondence, reports, meeting notes, capital plans, wide-distribution memos sent by the VP Academic to faculty Deans, and printed reference material.

University matters - general

Sub-series consists of files relating to university-wide matters and which did not fall under more specific classification categories. Activities and topics documented include conferences held on campus, conference funding, and the adoption of the metric system at the university. Records consist predominantly of correspondence.

University policies and procedures

Sub-series consists of records relating to the development, implementation, and interpretation of university policies and procedures. Policies documented include faculty workload, faculty personnel files, university professorships, financial exigency, research grants, patents and copyright, curriculum approval, add / drop regulations, examinations, employment equity, harassment, and the university smoking policy. Records include correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, drafts and working papers, and legal advice.

University Search Committees

Sub-series consists of records relating to the Vice-President, Academic's involvement with university search committees for senior academic and academic support administrators, including faculty deans, the Registrar, the University Librarian, and the Director of Computing Services.
