Research and advocacy records

Series consists of research material relating to a number of issues the Canadian Farmworkers Union investigated in order to provide information to workers, provide support to other groups, and publicly advocate for awareness and change. Subjects include the regulation and safe handling of pesticides, workers’ rights and occupational safety legislation, and general labour and minority rights. Records include newspaper clippings, journal articles, publicity materials, photographs of workers and events, awareness and event posters, worker housing blueprints, bumper stickers, and other ephemera.

The series is arranged into four sub-series: Pesticides subject files and photographs (1979-1994); Occupational health and safety subject files and photographs ([197-]-2011); Labour and rights movements subject files (1979-1998); and General subject files (1979-1993).

Research and advocacy records

This series contains records that McCrory collected to document environmental situation in Canada related to parks, watersheds, pulp-mill and logging industry, forest cutting, boreal forests, economic value of forest industry, and effect of industrial activity on the environment. Some of the records relate to the Indigenous peoples’ situation in some provinces in relation to land rights, land use and industrial activity. The records in this series contain various reports, correspondence, news items, maps, photographs and other material.
This series is divided into ten sub-series: Parks; Watersheds; Forestry and pulp industry; Boreal forests, Indigenous peoples; Economics; Climate change; Energy industry; General records; Government policies and documents.

Research and writing

This series consists of textual records related to research into Pat Lowther's life and writing career, the circumstances of her death and the subsequent trial of her husband for the crime, and also interviews with Lowther's friends and family. Most of the research was originated by either Toby Brooks or Dona Sturmanis, but some consists of photocopies obtained from other archival institutions. The information collected in this series culminated in the book "Pat Lowther's Continent".

The record types included in this series are: notes, correspondence, newspaper articles and reviews.

Series consists of photocopied scholarly articles used by Blaser for personal and academic research.

Research Material

This series contains textual materials and audio recordings (cassettes, audio reels, vinyl records) related to professional activities that are not specifically gamelan or composition, though they may also be related to both. Items include recordings of compositions by other composers, samples of sounds, recordings of different world music (especially a large number of recordings of Indian classical music), and some live concert recordings.

Series consists of various research records, works of others, and works about Wah, as well as other types of related records, such as correspondence, used by Wah for both personal and professional purposes.

The records in this series have been arranged into the following two sub-series: Works about Wah, and General records.

Residency records

Series consists of records relating to the various residencies and related programs that Wah has participated in during his career. These residencies have primarily been writer-in-residence programs at various academic and non-academic institutions, the most notable of which being his tenure as the Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate from 2011-2013. Records include correspondence, promotional materials, and administrative records.

The records in this series have been arranged into the following two sub-series: Parliamentary Poet Laureate, and General records.

Series consists of photocopies, magazines, zines, art catalogues, books, chapbooks, and clippings used for research in writing various essays, articles, columns, and poetry. Includes correspondence.

Reviews and articles regarding other writers and artists

Series consists of reviews, articles and other publications collected by Peter Trower relating to other writers and artists, particularly friends and acquaintances of Trower, as well as others who have influenced his work. Many of the items contain written notes or commentary by Trower. Ruth Emerson Wortis biographical information

This series consists of biographical information for Ruth Emerson Wortis compiled by the donor. This includes: a copy of the obituary written by Michael Wortis including photocopies of images used, a resume, and a comprehensive list of performances, dances choreographed by Ruth, publications and reviews.

This series is comprised of two 3-disc collections titled "Ruth Emerson: Her Vancouver & SFU Years". They were produced by the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University and contain several recorded performances and interviews conducted over a 9 year period.
