1995 GCBF working files

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the planning and organization of the 1995 Great Canadian Beer Festival (GCBF). This festival introduced several changes: the festival took on a new name (changed from the Victoria Microbrewery Festival); it was the first organized under the auspices of the newly formed GCBF Society; and it expanded the event from one to two days. It took place on the weekend of November 3-4, 1995 and was held at the Victoria Conference Centre. For record types, see parent sub-series description.

2003 GCBF working files

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the planning and organization of the 2003 Great Canadian Beer Festival (GCBF) in Victoria. This festival was the first held outdoors, as the venue shifted from the Victoria Conference Centre to the larger grounds of the Royal Athletic Park. It took place on the weekend of September 5-6. Sub-sub-series consists of Granville Island Brewing Company Limited annual reports for the years 1985 to 1988.

Marketing records

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the marketing of Granville Island Brewing and its products, and includes marketing plans, analyses and reports; price lists; customer questionnaire; marketing manager job description; graphics manual; and copies of articles relating to brewing industry competition.

What's Brewing (CAMRA BC)

Sub-sub-series consists of John Rowling's collection of What's Brewing magazine from the period when the magazine was the newsletter of CAMRA BC. It includes the inaugural issue of June 1990 through to 2010 (Volumes 1 through 20), with an additional single issue from 2013 (Volume 23, Number 5). Note that the volume numbering system repeated "Volume 7" for the years1996 and 1997. This run of issues is extensive but not complete: two issues are missing for 1995 (Vol. 2, Nos. 2-3), and one for 1996 (Vol. 3, No. 3) and one for 2004 (Vol. 14, No. 1).

The sub-sub-series also includes several issues from the post-2015 period, when What's Brewing was re-launched as an independent commercial venture. This run is not complete: it includes two issues from 2015 (Vol. 25), one issue from 2018 (Vol. 28, Issue 3), one from 2019 (Vol. 29, Issue 3), and the 2020 30th Anniversary Special Edition (Vol. 30, Issue 2).

What's Brewing Magazine (BC)

Canada

This sub-sub-series contains records related to forestry and pulp industry across Canada and contains information about individual provinces as well as Canadian situation in general. Some records document Indigenous peoples’ situation in relation to land use and industrial activities.

Saskatchewan

This sub-sub-series contains material related to forestry industry and forest situation in Saskatchewan, including forest management plans. This sub-sub-series contains several images of forest cuts and Meadow Lake protest. Some records document Indigenous peoples’ situation in relation to land use and industrial activities, including protest against deforestation. It contains reports, clippings, newsletters, data sheets, correspondence, photographs, and maps.

Manitoba

This sub-sub-series contains material related to Manitoba’s parks development policies, forestry management and pulp industry. Some files contain records on Manitoba’s boreal forests. It contains reports, policies, maps and cartographic diagrams, correspondence, etc.

Alberta

This sub-sub-series contains material related to the Alberta’s forest management and forestry industry, specifically including records related to the following companies: Daishowa, Alberta Pacific Forest Industries, Alberta Energy Company, Grand Alberta Pulp Mills, Proctor & Gamble, and Crestbrook Forest Industries. Some records relate to Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd. corporation dispute with the Lubicon Lake Nation and The Friends of the Lubicon organization. It contains reports, clippings, newsletters, data sheets, correspondence, photographs, maps, posters and corporate records.

Interactive Videodisc Career Planning Project

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the Interactive Videodisc Career Planning Project, also known as Knowledge for Youth About Careers (KYAC) Project and includes regular progress reports; university copyright concerns regarding the project; correspondence with the university community; budgets and audited financial reviews; government funding contracts; script and design documentation; a draft of "One Year Business Plan for SFU Interactive Videodisc Career Project;" and publishing and marketing proposals. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, contracts, reports, and financial statements.

Youth Employment Program

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the Youth Employment Program on campus and includes correspondence with the university community, student participants, AUCE 2, and the provincial government; agendas and reports prepared for the Student Employment Program review meeting; policies and procedures; program applications, adjudication statistics, and funding documents. Also included are records relating to development of the Enterprise Centre, a permanent student employment service on campus. Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, and financial statements and statistics.
