Publications

Subseries consists of publications produced by Telelearning Network of Centres of Excellence, including annual reports, preliminary and final conference programs, newsletters, and promotional booklets.

New Reader files

Series is comprised of records documenting the editorial and production of the "New Reader," a quarterly book review journal edited by Celia Duthie and published by Duthie Books from 1996-1999. One issue per year was titled the "Children’s Reader."

Human resources records

Sub-series consists of records relating to staff and faculty positions at the Technical University of British Columbia. Activities, events and topics documented include the recruiting, hiring and training of staff and faculty; terms of employment, job duties and responsibilities; goals and accomplishments of senior faculty members; contracting of Human Resources consultants; performance management; and the activities of the University's Pension Committee. Records include personnel files; job descriptions; contracts and letters of appointment; minutes and supporting papers; correspondence and memoranda; lists; reports and manuals; and notes.

Special Assistant to the Vice-President, Academic - Information Technology

Sub-series consists of records relating to the activities of Bill Glackman, appointed Special Assistant to the Vice-President, Academic – Information Systems and Educational Technology (1996-2000), then Assistant Vice-President (2000-2001). Activities and topics documented include IT systems planning and development of teaching and learning technologies. Records include correspondence, reports, and terms of reference.

CAMRA membership records

Sub-series consists of records relating to the management of CAMRA Victoria / CAMRA BC membership. Records includes application form templates, membership databases and lists. Records exist only in digital form. File formats are predominantly Excel (xls, xlsx) and Word (doc, docx), with some pdf documents. There are also three Microsoft Access database files, dating to around 2003. The membership lists mainly cover the years 1996-2005, with just one list for a later date (2016).

Brewer's Gold travelling exhibit files

Sub-series consists of Evans' project files relating to "Brewer's Gold: A History of the Hop Growing Industry in British Columbia," a travelling exhibit using photographs, artefacts and text. The exhibit launched in 2003 and travelled for several years to cities throughout North America, receiving the BC Museums Association's Award of Merit in 2005.

The exhibit was organized by the Chilliwack Museum and Archives, but it was also a collaboration involving the Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park in Kamloops, Coqualeetza Cultural Education Centre, Stō:ló Nation, Yakima Valley Museum, and the American Hops Museum. It received grant funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage, with additional sponsorship from CAMRA Victoria, the Great Canadian Beer Festival, Hopunion USA, Spinnakers Brewpub and Guesthouse (Victoria), and the Chilliwack Community Development Initiative. Ron Denman (Director, Chilliwack Museum and Archives), Ken Favrholdt (Director, Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park) and Evans supervised the project, while Evans and Linda Eversole undertook much of the research and writing.

Records includes grant proposal, correspondence, notes and working papers; copies of archival descriptions and finding aids, artefact lists, photographs and illustrations; interview transcripts; copies of newspaper and periodical articles; and exhibit storyline, draft panel text, and exhibit-case design documentation.

Rainbow Publishers records

Sub-series consists of correspondence, announcements, notes, publicity, and financial information created, made, and/or received by Hari Sharma as one of the founders of Rainbow Publications. The publication house began as a venture initiated by Sharma, his friends, and comrades in India to inexpensively make available in India works on Marxism and socialism published in the English-speaking world.

Tax records

Sub-series consists of Hari Sharma's income tax records that he filed annually with the Canada Revenue Agency. Sub-series includes copies of assessments, audits, returns, and statements.

Communications Manager's subject files

Sub-series consists of the working files created by the Communications Manager. Activities documented include media and public relations, government relations, development of a communications plan and strategy, committee work (the Networks of Centres of Excellence Communications Committee and the TeleLearning Operations Committee), web site development, and projects (the "Collaborations" CD ROM and a joint TeleLearning and Office of Learning Technology Writing Project).

Records include correspondence, reports, notes and working papers, communication plans, meeting agendas and minutes, proposals, work plans, agreements and contracts (copies), invoices, budget papers, purchase orders, estimates, permission forms, surveys, evaluation forms, contact lists, media releases, interview notes, presentations, advertising copy, newsletters and reprints. Photographs are included in file 2, "Annual report in progress." Records are retained in paper medium only.

Program Committee meeting records

This sub-series consists of records relating to the meetings of the Program Committee. Records include agendas, minutes, supporting papers, correspondence, presentations and reports. Both paper and electronic records have been retained, and there is some duplication of documents across media. Electronic records are retained in their original software formats (primarily .doc and .ppt).

Grant applications

Sub-series consists of grant applications and supporting materials submitted by filling Station Publications Society to granting organizations such as the Canada Council for the Arts and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Special Assistant to the Vice-President, Academic - Academic Planning

Sub-series consists of records relating to the activities of Kathy Heinrich, appointed Special Assistant to the Vice-President, Academic – Academic Planning (1996-1999). Activities and topics documented include university faculty renewal planning, development of the university's accountability framework and participation in the Minister's Forum on Universities ("Accountability Forum") in 1997, development of the university's mission statement, and the activities of the Ad Hoc Committee on Planning Priorities (1997). Records include correspondence, reports, planning documents, notes and working papers.

Project management files

Sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of certain TeleLearning projects by the Network's management office. Projects include the Portal for Online Objects in Learning (POOL); a TeleLearning legacy book and a research handbook and two initiatives funded by the Office of Learning Technologies (Human Resources Development Canada) -- "Training and mentoring of instructors and course authors for TeleLearning using Virutal-U" and "A framework of policy studies for telelearning technologies."

Records include proposals, contracts, agreements and memoranda of understanding, correspondence, reports, specifications, notes and working papers, budgets, spreadsheets, invoices, claim forms and supporting documentation. Record media include paper and electronic; electronic records are retained in their original software format (.doc).

Faking it records

Sub-series consists of records such as writing drafts, correspondence, and research records relating to the book "Faking It: Critical Writing 1984-1999," published by NeWest Press in 2000. The book is a collection of Wah's writings, including poems, essays, reviews, journals, and notes.

President's Office files

Sub-series consists of records relating to the position and activities of the President of TechBC. Activities, events and topics documented include Presidential recruiting and compensation; speeches made by the President, President's Annual Reports; activities of the President's Executive Advisory Committee (PEAC); and Vice-Presidential duties, objectives and activities. Records include correspondence; reports, papers, speeches and presentations; minutes, agendas and supporting documents; annual reports; and contracts.

Systems support records

Sub-series consists of records relating to the development of computer, internet, telecommunications, information technology, and administrative systems and networks at TechBC. Includes records documenting the activities of the TechBC Systems Planning and Development Advisory Committee (SPDAC) and University participation in the BCNet Society. Records include correspondence; reports, proposals, briefs, and presentations; minutes, agendas, and supporting papers; newspaper articles; and reference material.

Dead man’s ticket records

Sub-series consists records relating to Peter Trower's 1996 novel "Dead Man's Ticket." Records include manuscripts, editorial comments by John Moore, and publicity records.

Board of Directors meeting records

This sub-series consists of records relating to the meetings of the Board of Directors, in the form of the package Directors received in preparation for each meeting. Records include agendas, minutes and supporting papers; correspondence, organization charts, reports, planning documents, budgets and financial statements, communication plans, resolutions, attendance waiver forms, voting proxy forms, ballots, and proposals. The sub-series also includes the Executive Director's file of notes relating to the Board. Both paper and electronic records have been retained, and there is some duplication of documents across media. Electronic records are retained in their original software formats (primarily .doc and .ppt).
