Administrative records

This series contains records related to administrative operation of the Valhalla Wilderness Society and work of Colleen McCrory, including correspondence and contact lists of individuals and organizations that Valhalla cooperated with in some capacity.
This series is divided into two sub-series: Correspondence and General Records.

Liaison and cooperation files

Series consists of records relating to the Women's Centre's interaction and work with outside organizations, in particular, the B.C. and Yukon Association of Women's Centres and the Women's Studies Student Union at SFU. Records include reports, minutes, newsletters, correspondence and other documents.

Lectures and education records

Series consists of records relating to James Delgado's speaking engagements, teaching activities, and other events he has attended. Records include correspondence, publicity records (including posters, brochures, and leaflets), itineraries, and conference proceedings, programs and papers.

Diaries

Series consists of diaries kept by Billy. Records include loose diary pages and bound diaries.

SFU Faculty Association (SFUFA) negotiation files

Series consists of records relating to negotiations between the university and the Simon Fraser University Faculty Association (SFUFA) on matters relating to the collective framework agreement establishing the terms and conditions of academic employment at SFU. Records include correspondence, notes, policies, arbitration briefs, reports and statistics, negotiating proposals, agreements, meeting minutes, notes, and working papers.

Salary, renewal, tenure and promotion files

Series consists of records relating to the operation of the university's salary, renewal, tenure and promotion review processes. Activities and topics documented include development of faculty salary scales and polices, and the activities of the Faculty Salary Policy Committee (1987); the university's professional librarians' policies; renewal, tenure and promotion recommendations and the activities of the University Tenure Committee (UTC); salary reviews and appeals, and the activities of the University Salary Review Committee (1978-1983). Records include correspondence; recommendations; statistical data, including comparisons to other universities; policies, procedures and drafts; notes and working papers.

Audio-visual records

This series contains audio and video recordings of provincial and party leadership campaign events. The recordings contain speeches, addresses, presentations, recordings of convention activities, campaign tutorials, newscasts, and campaign songs.
This series is divided into two sub-series: 1. Audio recordings; 2. Video recordings.

Dr. Paul T. Cote papers

Series consists of records made and received by Dr. Paul T. Coté in the course of carrying out the duties of Chancellor. It includes correspondence and memoranda.

Pie Tree Press publications and related material

Series consists of material related to publications issued by Pie Tree Press, including books, prints, and broadsides. Includes material relating to Rimmer’s work on an abandoned book entitled “Fred Goudy, Type Designer,” and the development and publication of A Christmas Carol, Shadow River: the Selected and Illustrated Poems of Pauline Johnson, Leaves from the Pie Tree and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, as well as various Wayzgoose publications. Types of material in this series include drafts, mock-ups, proofs, prints, drawings, illustrations, pamphlets, booklets, broadsides, linocuts, and master patterns.

Rimmer, Jim

Written works records

Series consists of written works by Billy and related materials. Records include drafts, notes, handmade magnets, event posters, newsletters that feature Billy’s work, Billy’s column in The Squamish Chief newspaper and two cassette tapes with speeches.

Committee files

Series consists of records relating to the meetings and deliberations of the Centre's committees, and university committees in which the Centre participated. Records include meeting agendas, minutes and supporting papers.

Membership

Series consists of records relating to the recruitment and maintenance of an active membership. Activities documented include the recruitment of new members, the maintenance of a current membership file, and communication with members. Records include lists of bargaining unit members and teaching assistant appointments, and some correspondence.

Working Women Unite records

Series consists of records relating to Working Women Unite. Includes financial records, correspondence, minutes, conference proceedings, articles, papers and bulletins.

Union action records

Series consists of correspondence, legal records, photographs, and other material relating to the Canadian Farmworkers Union’s promotion and certification of the union in individual work sites; negotiations with farm owners; individual workers’ complaints; strikes; and participation in rallies for a variety of causes.

The series is arranged into four sub-series: Unionization and organizing notes, photographs, and other records ([198-]-1985); Certification correspondence, contracts, and photographs (1980-1992); Photographs, legal records, and correspondence relating to complaints, strikes, and rallies (1979-[199-?]); and General planning and research newspaper clippings, notes, and photographs ([1978]-1997).

Publications

This sub-series contains publications created or collected by Valhalla Society and its affiliating organizations and partners.
The series is divided into four sub-series: Valhalla Newsletters; Other Publications; Reports and Clippings.

Executive Committee elections and minutes

Series consists of records relating to the election and business of the executive committee. Activities documented include the nomination and election of committee members; committee discussions, decisions and actions; and executive correspondence. Records include nomination calls and notices; candidate biographies and statements; ballot instructions, forms and result sheets; minutes (1980-81 only); telegrams and letters concerning union business to members, the university administration, and other unions.

Conference, presentation, and literary jury materials

Series includes materials relating to conferences, workshops, and literary juries in which Peter Buitenhuis participated, organized, or presented. Topics and activities documented include his participation on the Governor General Awards non-fiction jury, Canadian Association of American Studies conferences, a World War seminar in Paris, and a History of the Book Conference.

This series includes correspondence, presentation papers, conference programs and pamphlets, newsletters, and submitted papers and presentation proposals.

General correspondence files

Series consists of correspondence relating to academic personnel relations and support services. Activities and topics documented include recruitment and retirement, negotiations with the Teaching Support Staff Union (TSSU) in 1979, the provincial Compensation Stabilization Program, (1982-1984), development of the personnel payroll IT systems and the activities of the Administrative Information Systems Steering Committee (1987-1988), the employment systems review in the Office of the Vice-President, Academic (1989), and the distribution agreement with the Open Learning Agency (1989-1990). Records include correspondence, policies and procedures, reports and statistics, meeting minutes, agreements, legal advice, and notes and working papers.

Writings and correspondence

This series consists primarily of Ruth’s correspondence regarding certain dance pieces, her personal notes and writings, or articles she authored for publication.

Logbooks

Series comprises records created by Women's Centre staff to document day-to-day operations, staff activities and messages, and women's use of the Centre's facilities. Records include logbooks (1979-1992) containing daily entries by staff recording work completed, messages, phone calls, proposals, comments and opinions, and occasional correspondence; daily work reports (1984-1986) tabulating the number of phone calls and drop-ins by category; mail logs (1991) registering incoming and outgoing mail; phone logs (1991); and sign-in books (1988-1992) signed by women using the Centre, recording name, date, purpose or other comments relating to the visit.

Awards and honours records

Series consists of correspondence, certificates, and promotional material relating to various awards and honours received by Peter Trower. Includes records relating to Trower’s receipt of a BC 2000 Book Award, the BC Gas Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 and the Canadian Author’s Association Jack Chalmers Poetry Award in 2005. Series also includes records relating to his third place finish for the BC Book Prizes Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize in 2001 and his nomination for a 2003 ReLit Award in the poetry category.

Vice-President, Academic - correspondence

Series consists of records relating to the correspondence between the President and the Vice-President, Academic and the departments that reported to the Vice-President, Academic. Records also include working papers, surveys, university exchange agreements, program proposals, policies and procedures and photographs.

President's Office correspondence

Series consists of records relating to the operations, policies and procedures, external relations and public relations of the President's Office, including liaison with departments and programs that reported directly to the President's Office. Records include correspondence, working papers, reports, policy statements, media and public relations documentation, budgets and financial statements, newsletters, press clippings, and photographs.

Organization and administration files

Series consists of records relating to the administration and organization of Press Gang Publishers. Activities, events and topics documented include organizational history, governance and meetings, and daily office administration. Records include correspondence, reports, meeting agendas, minutes and supporting papers, and log books.

Radiation safety

Series consists of records related to radiation safety in the facilities of the Department. It includes memoranda, policy and procedure documents, and reports.

Outreach and advocacy

Series consists of records relating to the promotion of women's entry into trades occupations, gathering and dissemination of information about women and trades, and advocacy around specific cases, issues, and events, including sexual harassment and affirmative action. Activities documented include questionnaires circulated on women in trades in 1980 and 1985; speaking engagements and presentations; and an outreach project aimed at high-school students, undertaken in conjunction with the Pacific Vocational Institute and the Society of Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) in 1984-1985. Series includes correspondence, briefs, speeches, questionnaires, graphic materials and photographs, as well as published reference materials.

Organizations and groups

This series documents McCrory’s and Valhalla Wilderness Society interactions with various environmental organization, associations, societies and networks that the VWS cooperated with, intended to cooperate with or gathered information about. The series contains correspondence, reports, notes, agendas, meeting minutes, publications, newsletters, news releases, clippings and other material related to environment.
This series is divided into six sub-series: Canadian groups; United States groups; International groups; Government – NDP; Canada’s Future Forest Alliance; Share and hate / general groups.

School history files

Series consists of records relating to the evolution of the School, its internal organization, mandate and scope of activities, and departmental planning. Activities, events and topics documented include reorganization as part of the faculty of Applied Sciences in 1985, departmental review, an update on alumni and departmental open house, and planning for Homecoming '90. Records include correspondence; reports; proposals; planning documents; notes and working papers.
