Files arranged chronologically.

Book Publishing and Public Policy Conference

Subseries consists of records of the Book Publishing and Public Policy Conference, held in Ottawa in April, 1981, which was sponsored jointly by the ACP and the Writer's Union of Canada. Included are correspondence, minutes and papers of the organizing committee, mailing and registration lists, invitations, programs, photographs, speeches and briefs from the conference's keynote speakers (Francis Fox, Margaret Atwood, Bryan Sims, Roy MacSkimming, James Lorimer and Patsy Aldana), and notes and proceedings from the conference panels.

Book manuscripts

Sub-series consists of manuscripts for unpublished and published books written by Blaser.

Book and manuscript files

Sub-series consists of records relating to Fellman's book projects. Records include manuscripts (in paper and digital form), correspondence, research notes and working papers, contracts, reviews, photographs, and book publicity materials.

The files are arranged into separate sub-sub-series for each project. All of Fellman's published works are represented with the exception of his second book, Making Sense of Self. There are in addition materials for two works that were never published: Uneminent Victorians, a series of studies of individuals "falling from respectability in late Victorian England"; and Dirty Civil War, an unfinished novel of the American Civil War.

Arrangement:

  • The Unbounded Frame files (sub-sub-series 1)
  • Inside War files (sub-sub-series 2)
  • Uneminent Victorians files (sub-sub-series 3)
  • Citizen Sherman files (sub-sub-series 4)
  • The Making of Robert E. Lee files (sub-sub-series 5)
  • This Terrible War files (sub-sub-series 6)
  • In the Name of God and Country files (sub-sub-series 7)
  • Views from the Dark Side files (sub-sub-series 8)
  • Dirty Civil War files (sub-sub-series 9)

For the earlier works (sub-sub-series 1 through 4), only paper records exist. For later works (sub-sub-series 5 through 9), digital copies of the manuscripts were included among his computer files, often in multiple versions. The Archives has made no attempt to analyze, compare, or reconcile the various versions of the same work; it has simply assigned a version number (A, B, C etc) based on the date-modification timestamps.

Board of Governors

Sub-series consists of records relating to the Vice-President, Academic's involvement with the Board of Governors and various Board committees. It is not always possible to determine whether the records represent the VP Academic's working file as a committee member or rather correspondence between the VP Academic and the committee. For a general description of record types, see the description for the series of committee records and correspondence as a whole (series F-200-8).

Board of Directors meeting records

The sub-series also includes the Executive Director's file of notes relating to the Board. Both paper and electronic records have been retained, and there is some duplication of documents across media. Electronic records are retained in their original software formats (primarily .doc and .ppt).
