Poetry

Sub-series consists of letters, schedules and itineraries for reading engagements, newspaper clippings on Pierre Coupey, research materials, drafts of poetic works by Coupey, annotations from Bill Schermbrucker on a first draft for the poem, “Moon Bay,” a draft copy of “The Alphabet of Blood” as well as a published photocopy of the poem. Also included are correspondence and publishing information from Gary Geddes, a letter from Coach House Press (bp Nichol and Michael Ondaatje), an award certificate from The Malahat Review (circa 1980s), poetic materials for the “Interventing the Text: A Symposium, 1991,” as well as drafts and poems from Coupey’s formative years as a youth, including a significant letter from 1957 from Canadian poet Louis Dudek to Coupey and a newspaper clipping about Dudek. This photocopy of this seminal letter from Dudek fuelled Coupey’s life-long passion as a poet. A few of the early poems from this sub-series are included in Coupey’s publication Bring Forth the Cowards. Also included in this sub-series are drafts and working copies of poems for “Notes Towards a Requiem,” 1997 and Cutting Out The Tongue: Selected Poems: 1962-1997 by Coupey.

Incoming correspondence

Sub-series consists of James Delgado's incoming correspondence, primarily relating to his professional activities. Records span Delgado's time working with the National Park Service, the National Maritime Initiative, the Vancouver Maritime Museum, and the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, and relate to administrative matters at these institutions, as well as events he attended and projects he worked on. Correspondence relating to shipwreck and historic site projects includes expedition reports, itineraries, and research records. Correspondence relating to Delgado's writing projects focuses on the publication of books and articles, and includes some copies of articles written by Delgado, advertisements for his books, and book reviews. Sub-series also contains some correspondence relating to the television program "The Sea Hunters." Records include letters, email and fax printouts, and greeting cards, as well as attachments and related records such as newsletters, certificates, newspaper clippings, and magazine articles.

Letters of recommendation and competition records

Sub-series consists of records relating to recommendations Daphne Marlatt has written for others and literary competitions she has judged. Records include letters of recommendation, correspondence, poems from other writers, notes, and administrative records.

General records

Sub-series consists of records relating to articles and short stories written by Trower, both published and unpublished. Record types include drafts, outlines, notes, proposals, project lists, notes, and research and reference material. Includes articles and short stories published in the periodicals B.C. Studies, Coast News, En Route, Equity, Lifestyle, Peninsula Voice, Vancouver Magazine, Western Living, and Whistle Punk.

Awards and honours

Sub-series consists of records relating to awards and honours Daphne Marlatt and her publications have received. They include the Order of Canada, the Diamond Jubilee Medal, and an honourary degree from Mount St. Vincent University. Records include certificates, correspondence, and brochures.

Series consists of general research records and works of others kept by Wah for personal and professional purposes, as well as other types of records relating to these works, such as related correspondence.

Sub-series consists of correspondence created or received by James Delgado, as well as other related records labelled "personal papers" and "personal correspondence" in the creator's original arrangement of his files. Correspondence from 1973 to 1989 focuses primarily on Delgado’s time with the San Jose Historical Landmarks Commission and the National Park Service, and correspondence from 2001 to 2009 focuses on Delgado’s time at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Records include letters, email printouts, and cards, as well as attachments and related records such as photographs, certificates, newspaper clippings, newsletters, lecture programs, publication contracts, and writing drafts.

General records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Wah's various writings and publications, such as writing drafts, manuscript pages, notes, correspondence, and copies of writings in their published form. Includes records relating to Wah's poetry, essays, reviews, as well as writings that are part of collaborative artistic projects. Several files contain records relating to the books "Music at the Heart of Thinking," published by Red Deer College Press in 1987, and "is a door," published by Talonbooks in 2010.

Workshop records

Sub-series consists of records relating to various writing workshops and "studio" workshops Daphne Marlatt has lead. Records include administrative records, correspondence, workshop publications, and other teaching materials.

Works about Wah

Series consists of works written by others about Wah. It includes reviews of Wah's work, academic works written about Wah's poetry and other writings, and interviews with Wah.

Notes and drafts

Subseries contains hand written and typewritten notes and drafts of poetry, books, chapbooks, essays, interviews, reviews, and columns. Includes notes and drafts, correspondence and resources.

Goodwin family and early years notes and research records

Sub-series consists of records created or accumulated by Stonebanks relating to his research about Ginger Goodwin’s family, genealogy, and his early life in England. Records include notes written by Stonebanks and research records such as birth and death certificates and census records. Research materials from this sub-series were used primarily for chapter 1 of Stonebanks’ book.

"The Portside" records

Sub-series consists of records relating to the short film "The Portside," written by Daphne Marlatt. Released in 2009, the film was part of the Out on Screen Queer History Project. Records document the writing of the film as well as its production and submission to film festivals. Records include screenplay drafts, correspondence, research records, and administrative records.

"Shadow Catch" records

Sub-series consists of records relating to the chamber opera "Shadow Catch," for which Marlatt composed the libretto. The opera was affiliated with the Pro Musica Society of Vancouver's Further East Further West Series, as well as the City of Vancouver's 125th Anniversary Celebration. "Shadow Catch" ran from December 2-4, 2011 at the Firehall Arts Centre in Vancouver. Records include draft scripts, correspondence, articles, musical scores, photographs, programs, and advertisements.

Occupational health and safety subject files and photographs

Sub-series consists of records relating to the Canadian Farmworkers Union’s research and advocacy of occupational health and safety awareness and legislation, including correspondence, briefs prepared for government, newspaper clippings, and reference materials. Records also include awareness posters, blueprints of worker housing, educational materials, and photographs of child workers on farms.

Books and publication records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Delgado's activities writing and books, pamphlets, and booklets. Series contains drafts and covers of books, as well some pamphlets and booklets. Also included are research records and correspondence regarding the publication of his books. A large number of the files from accrual MsC 123a contain correspondence and contracts relating to the book "Encyclopedia of underwater and maritime archaeology," for which Delgado served as editor.

Sub-series consists of drafts, edits, typescripts, and notes written by Thesen. Materials include handwritten notes, drafts, unpublished works, edited poems, prose, typescripts/manuscripts, correspondence, book cover proofs, research materials, notebooks, cassette tapes, and other materials.
