British Columbia radical and anarchist movement materials

Series consists of materials collected by Gambone relating to British Columbia anarchist and related political movements. Records include materials relating to the Vietnam Teach-In in Victoria in 1967, a copy of The Pedestal newspaper published by the Vancouver Women's Caucus, documentation relating to the anarchist scene in Vancouver from 1968 to the 1980s and Vancouver Island from 2006 to 2016, and the Nanaimo Occupy movement in 2011.

Events records

Series contains paper and born-digital records related to two events which Adbusters Media Foundation participated in: the Seoul Mediacity Biennale Exhibition (2018) and the Vancouver Art Book Fair (2018).

Paper records include an exhibition catalogue, subscription cards, price lists, an internal manual on running an exhibition booth, and newsletter sign-up sheets. Born-digital records include press releases, emails, photographs, an internal manual on running an exhibition booth, a silent auction prize, digital posters, and a video of Adbusters' exhibit.

The series has been arranged by the archivist into separate sub-series based on the type of event:

Files are arranged chronologically.

Board Retreats and Strategy Sessions

This series consists of records created during the planning and facilitation of retreat events attended by Board executives and members. The retreats involved socializing and networking, discussing issues and concerns relevant to the Board, reflection on University events and priorities, as well as strategic planning. Includes retreat agendas and notes, memos, invoices, reports, presentations, correspondence, evaluation forms, event facility brochures, articles, speaker bios, and maps.

Minute appendices and indexes

This series consists of indexes to the Board of Governors official minutes of regular meetings. The indexes are arranged chronologically. A list of all Members of the Board of Governors and details of each individual’s term; as well as a list of all Chancellors, Chairs of the Board, and Presidents from 1963-2000 are included at the beginning of the indexes.

Advertising

Series consists of advertising and promotional material of Makara itself and records of advertising in Makara by other businesses. Includes correspondence, press releases, ad mock-ups, contracts, notes and promotional material.

Photographs, labels and graphics

Series consists of graphic materials relating to BC brewing history: photographic prints, digital scans, beer labels (originals and copies), and other printed images. The series also includes Evans' correspondence relating to photo research and permissions clearance for his various projects, including the book project; textual records include correspondence, search results, low-resolution print-outs of images, order forms, invoices, schedules of fees, and conditions of use forms.

Photographs appear throughout most series in the fonds; this series brings together images that were stored loose or in separate binders or folders without any obvious connection to other materials; and it includes Evans' own low-resolution scans of analog originals.

Beer festival and event files

Series consists of materials relating to beer festivals Smith attended or documentation he collected about them. Records includes festival guides, information sheets, posters, programs, maps and tickets. Events documented include the Vancouver and International Brewmasters Festivals, the Great Canadian Beer Festival, the Okanagan Fest-of-Ale, BC and Canadian Beer Awards ceremonies, the Canada Cup of Beer, local cask festivals and Vancouver's Craft Beer Week. Files are arranged chronologically by event.

Constitution

Series consists of the constitution of the Simon Fraser Student Society. Included are the first constitution, proposed amendments, Constitution Committee reports, incorporation of student societies, reference material on student government and by-laws.

Memorial pamphlets

Series consists of two pamphlets associated with the Arthur Erickson memorial at Simon Fraser University, which took place on May 20, 2009.

General ceremonies and events files

Series consists of records relating to a variety of ceremonies and events organized by the Ceremonies Office. Activities documented include dinners, receptions, memorial services, exhibitions and other special occasions held to honor students, staff, faculty, alumni, and distinguished visitors. Records include programs, invitations, guest lists, books of words (order of proceedings), correspondence, notes, publications, brochures, and other documents.
