Ruth Emerson Wortis performances and interviews

This series is comprised of two 3-disc collections titled "Ruth Emerson: Her Vancouver & SFU Years". They were produced by the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University and contain several recorded performances and interviews conducted over a 9 year period.

Residency records

Series consists of records relating to the various residencies and related programs that Wah has participated in during his career. These residencies have primarily been writer-in-residence programs at various academic and non-academic institutions, the most notable of which being his tenure as the Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate from 2011-2013. Records include correspondence, promotional materials, and administrative records.

The records in this series have been arranged into the following two sub-series: Parliamentary Poet Laureate, and General records.

Scholarly work

Series consists of records related to Karasick’s research and scholarly work. Records include research notes, drafts, completed essays and some correspondence. The series is divided into subseries: PhD thesis, essays and pechakuchas, and conference presentations.

Literary works

Series consists of manuscripts, typescript drafts and working papers for Mootoo’s literary compositions, including novels, short stories, poetry, and lectures and talks delivered on various occasions.

General operational files

Series consists of operational files reflecting the editing and publishing of Rattler magazine. Records reflect the production process, promotion of the zine, and the reception of Rattler in the local press. Includes correspondence, notes, clippings, posters, other poetry zines, ephemera, and silk-screened t-shirts.

Editorial records

Series includes submissions, correspondence, editorial and working notes, clippings, paste-ups, mock-ups, two (f.)Lip issues (Volume 1, Number 2, July 1987; Volume 2, Number 3, December 1988) and other records.

Speeches

Series consists of records relating to Duke’s public appearances. The records include speaking notes and research related to these events. Includes records relating to the following speaking events and interviews:

Writing

Series contains material relating to Karasick’s works of poetry. Includes handwritten and word-processed notes and drafts of works, some annotated; page proofs and other materials relating to the research, creation and publication process of Karasick’s works; published work; photographs; notebooks and some correspondence. The series is divided into several subseries, based on title. Notebooks form a separate subseries.

Books edited

Series consists of records relating to Karasick’s editorial work. Records include marked-up drafts, and correspondence and contracts related to the work.

Ephemera

Series consists of posters, flyers, leaflets, and trade publications.

Correspondence

Series contains letters and printouts of emails from friends, family members, professors, colleagues, universities, and funding organizations. Included are cards, postcards, notes, photographs, and outgoing draft correspondence. Series is divided into 2 subseries: Personal correspondence and Professional correspondence.

Promo

Series contains interviews with Adeena Karasick; reviews of her works; posters, flyers, leaflets and other promotional ephemera; promotional packages; tour itineraries; and promotional material gathered to support Adeena Karasick’s application for a green card in the United States of America.

Programs and publicity

Series contains programs for the Women in View Festivals, including programs for individual performances or events. Series also contains original and photocopied newspaper clippings of press coverage of the Women in View Festivals.

Awards and honours records

Series consists of correspondence, certificates, and promotional material relating to various awards and honours received by Peter Trower. Includes records relating to Trower’s receipt of a BC 2000 Book Award, the BC Gas Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 and the Canadian Author’s Association Jack Chalmers Poetry Award in 2005. Series also includes records relating to his third place finish for the BC Book Prizes Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize in 2001 and his nomination for a 2003 ReLit Award in the poetry category.

Organizations and groups

This series documents McCrory’s and Valhalla Wilderness Society interactions with various environmental organization, associations, societies and networks that the VWS cooperated with, intended to cooperate with or gathered information about. The series contains correspondence, reports, notes, agendas, meeting minutes, publications, newsletters, news releases, clippings and other material related to environment.
This series is divided into six sub-series: Canadian groups; United States groups; International groups; Government – NDP; Canada’s Future Forest Alliance; Share and hate / general groups.

Specific campaigns

This series contains material related to specific campaigns that Valhalla Wilderness Society initiated, and advocated for or against. The sub-series contains detailed development plan, environmental impact reports and assessments, environmental legislations, correspondence, publications, newsletters, presentation, data sheets, news clippings, maps, postcards, photographs and other documents.
The series is divided into seven sub-series: Valhalla Park; Kootenay Boundary Land Use; Clayoquot Sound; Taiga Rescue Network; Forest certification and stewardship; Singing forest; Jumbo Glacier Resort

Computer Programming

This series contains mostly computer disks and some audio cassettes relating to Bartlett’s programming of MABEL, FORTH, and MIDAS language development and usage, as well as startup disks and software, and information about experimental tuning systems. Some of the material relates to programs on the Buchla 400. The textual materials include notes and the manual to the Atari computer, as well as journal articles, magazines, scores, symposia programs, and correspondence.

Photographs

This series contains print and negative photographs depicting various events and meetings organized by The Social Credit Party during provincial election and by-election campaigns, party leadership conventions, conferences and annual general meetings. It also includes images of party wide events as well as events specific to single constituency offices, including: Burnaby-Edmonds, Burnaby-Willingdon, Richmond, Vancouver-East, Coquitlam, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, and Cariboo. This also includes images of many events organized by BC Young Socreds.

Royalties records and related correspondence

Series consists of correspondence and associated financial records relating to royalties, book sales, manuscript development, editorial layout, grant applications and contract negotiations. Records include: correspondence, sales figures, balance sheets, financial statements, printouts, royalty statements, notes, mailing lists, book reviews, tax forms, grant applications and receipts.

Administrative records - general

This series is primarily comprised of business records related to the general business activities of Judith Marcuse Projects (and all associated identities), including contracts, annual reports and meeting minutes. In some cases there is overlap with a file containing general documents as well as project-specific ones; in those instances the file was assigned to the series appropriate to the majority of content.

Administrative records

This series contains records related to administrative operation of the Valhalla Wilderness Society and work of Colleen McCrory, including correspondence and contact lists of individuals and organizations that Valhalla cooperated with in some capacity.
This series is divided into two sub-series: Correspondence and General Records.

Lectures and education records

Series consists of records relating to James Delgado's speaking engagements, teaching activities, and other events he has attended. Records include correspondence, publicity records (including posters, brochures, and leaflets), itineraries, and conference proceedings, programs and papers.

Diaries

Series consists of diaries kept by Billy. Records include loose diary pages and bound diaries.

Audio-visual records

This series contains audio and video recordings of provincial and party leadership campaign events. The recordings contain speeches, addresses, presentations, recordings of convention activities, campaign tutorials, newscasts, and campaign songs.
This series is divided into two sub-series: 1. Audio recordings; 2. Video recordings.

Pie Tree Press publications and related material

Series consists of material related to publications issued by Pie Tree Press, including books, prints, and broadsides. Includes material relating to Rimmer’s work on an abandoned book entitled “Fred Goudy, Type Designer,” and the development and publication of A Christmas Carol, Shadow River: the Selected and Illustrated Poems of Pauline Johnson, Leaves from the Pie Tree and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, as well as various Wayzgoose publications. Types of material in this series include drafts, mock-ups, proofs, prints, drawings, illustrations, pamphlets, booklets, broadsides, linocuts, and master patterns.
