Wildflowers of British Columbia: General

Series consists of twenty-two pen and watercolour drawings and two posters made by George Kuthan in 1959 portraying wildflowers and wild animals of British Columbia. The posters illustrate a short biography and the title of his collection.

Series consists of family materials, such as documents related to the purchase of land, certificates of shares in various co-operative associations, a notebook of shared family expenses, correspondence from Ethel to Allan, and a souvenir pennant.

Sorokin was represented by Messrs Rankin and Dean Barristers and Solicitors. The records include transcripts of Examination for Discovery, Court of Appeal, related correspondence and documents.

SFU architectural competition records

Series consists of records relating to the Simon Fraser University architectural competition. The contest was held in 1963 to choose the overall design for the new university. Includes newspaper clippings, correspondence, reports, information releases, minutes of meetings with Gordon Shrum (SFU Chancellor), and photographs of the proposed site.

Series contains handwritten text, and copies of newspaper clippings. The handwritten text may relate to A Voice was Heard in Ramah. The newspaper clippings were used for research when writing Bleak November.

SFU Opening ceremonies files

Series consists of records relating to the opening ceremonies of Simon Fraser University on September 9, 1965. Activities documented include the planning of the ceremonies. Records include programs, correspondence, notes, news clippings, publications, sheet music, charter student certificate, and other documents.

Breaks Bros. Construction Ltd. SFU construction collection

The series consists of three items relating to the involvement of Break Bros. Construction Ltd. in the construction of the SFU Burnaby campus: a copy of Construction Canada (vol. 1 no. 5) that features an article on grading the site (item 1); a mounted montage of 9 photos of site clearing and grading (item 2); and a copy of the opening ceremonies program (item 3).

Series consists of miscellaneous personal items concerning the household, church and investments. Included are correspondence, invoices, reports, bank account books, certificates, a bill of sale, an indenture, insurance policies, assessment forms, pamphlets, programs, a diary and lists.

Carolyn Hegberg SFU history collection

The series consists of four items relating to the early history of Simon Fraser University: a copy of the program for the university's opening ceremonies on September 9, 1965; an invitation and ticket to the President's Ball held in October 1965; and a copy of the first SFU Yearbook (1965-66).

Policies and reference material

Series consists of draft policies for SFU, as well as reference material used to formulate those policies. Policies relate to academic plans, examinations, credit hours and degree requirements, student activity fees, academic calendars, course numbering systems, staffing, academic freedom, admission requirements, and other issues. Reference material consists of reports and other records from other universities regarding their policies, procedures, and circumstances. Series also includes a tabulation of credit hours taught at SFU in the 1967 summer semester.

Bennett Hardware / Bennett's Stores

Series consists of records relating to Bennett Hardware and its successor Bennett's Stores. Included are correspondence, a bill of sales, lists, invoices, insurance policies, balance sheets, a financial statement, pamphlets, a notebook, orders, advertisements, minutes, annual reports, bonds, newsletters and a warrant.

Board reports

Series comprises 33 reports to the faculty of Simon Fraser University regarding actions taken by the Board of Governors. Also includes a progress report on the University Library.

Bob and Donelda Wilson SFU Sports Car Club collection

The series consists of records relating to the activities and administration of the SFU Sports Car Club. Formed in 1965, it was one earliest clubs registered with the Simon Fraser Student Society. According to Bob Sterne, who was President of the Sports Car Club in 1966, "the purpose of the Sports Car Club is to contribute to extra-curricular activities and promote better sportsmanship by directing and sponsoring all aspects of motoring events." The Sports Car Club held timed races, such as the inaugural Gymkhana at the Brentwood Shopping Centre on November 14, 1965, and semesterly rallies to create new interest in motorsports.

Records include a Sports Car Club jacket, a Sport Car Club patch, two issues of the Red Line bulletin, and a copy of the Sports Car Club constitution and by-laws. A copy of The Tartan (vol. 2 no. 4) is also included with the records.
