Slides

Sub-series contains slides compiled by James Delgado during the filming of "The Sea Hunters." Slides relate to several locations, shipwrecks, and events featured in the series, including Vrouw Maria (Finland), Fox (Greenland), USS Akron, Dresden (Chile), and D-day.

Drafts, proofs and edits

This sub-series contains records relating to the conceptualization and development of the textual content of “I Stand for Canada”. Record types include print-outs, correspondence and notes.

Born-digital records

Sub-series consists of born-digital records related to the creation of Adbusters-branded merchandise. Records include photographs and digital graphic mockups of stickers, postcards, T-shirts, coffee mugs, baseball cards, flags, packaging, buttons, patches, and a spoof parking ticket.

While there is some overlap, physical merchandise from sub-series F-300-6-1 and born-digital records in this sub-series do not necessarily correlate.

Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue program

Sub-series consists of records documenting the establishment and development of SFU's Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue (USD) program by Mark Winston in his capacity as director of the program. Since the records are originals and were created and received by Winston in the course of his activities in founding, developing, and sustaining this academic program for the university, they are considered official university records. Records include correspondence, agendas, minutes, reports, proposals, budgets, and photographs.

Titanic images

Sub-series consists of a print of a drawing of the Titanic, as well as colour photographs, printed from digital images onto non-photographic paper, of underwater images from the Titanic and artefacts recovered from the Titanic.

"The Gull" records

Sub-series consists of records relating to "The Gull," the Japanese Noh play written by Daphne Marlatt. The play is a dramatization of the historical link between the fishing town of Steveston, home to many Japanese-Canadians, and Mio, the coastal village in Wakayama, Japan, from which many of their ancestors originally emigrated. Records include manuscripts, permissions, correspondence, musical scores, research material, photographs, books, articles, promotional material, programs and related production material. Also includes two optical discs, one of which contains sound files with transcriptions.

The Hero’s Walk articles and reviews

Subseries consists of articles and reviews of the novel The Hero’s Walk published in Canadian and international magazines and newspapers. It also includes Italian articles on Anita Rau Badami as winner of Berto Prize with her novel The Hero’s Walk

The Last Supper opera libretto draft, revisions and final text

Sub-series consists of the draft, revisions and final text of The Last Supper, an opera libretto written by Blaser. Material includes handwritten edits and notes on the text, which include facsimiles sent with revisions from Harrison Birtwistle, who wrote the score for The Last Supper, and representatives at Allied Artists.

Photographs

Sub-series contains photographs, contact sheets, and negatives compiled by James Delgado relating to the television series "The Sea Hunters." Photographs depict Delgado and the "Sea Hunters" team members during the planning, research, and filming of episodes.

Parliamentary Poet Laureate records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Wah’s activities as Parliamentary Poet Laureate of Canada, a position he occupied from 2011-2013. Records include correspondence, writings by Wah, travel and event records, and administrative records.

Dead man’s ticket film records

Sub-series consists records relating to a proposed film adaptation of Peter Trower’s novel "Dead Man’s Ticket." Records include a proposal and drafts of a screenplay.

"Winter/Rice/Tea Strain" records

Sub-series contains pages from the poetry chapbook "Winter/Rice/Tea strain" (2000), printed by Peter Haase (C & P Platen Press) and designed by Mona Fertig.

First Things First project records

Sub-series consists of records created by Adbusters Media Foundation during the First Things First project advocacy campaign. Building on the 1964 manifesto of British designer Ken Garland, the First Things First project was re-launched by Adbusters in 1999 to advocate against the use of graphic design to promote unethical products and industries.

In 2008, Adbusters launched the One World, One Flag design competition as a sub-campaign within the First Things First movement. In this sub-campaign, Adbusters called on designers from around the world to submit a flag design that embodies the ideal of global citizenship. In 2018, Adbusters brought the First Things first campaign to Emily Carr University, through an event called the "Emily Carr Jam."

Paper records include posters, design concepts, sketches, collages, internal memos, and campaign strategies and plans. Born-digital records include digital graphics, press releases, emails, "One World, One Flag" design submissions, and digital photographs.

A ship called Destiny records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Trower's 2000 "A Ship Called Destiny: Poems of Love and Travel," originally titled "Yvonne’s Book." Includes the first selection of poems, an edited manuscript, the author’s introduction, postscript and table of contents, and galley proofs with photographs.

Financial records

Sub-series consists of records documenting the financial operation of housepress, including invoices, bank statements, bank books, check stubs, notices of assessment, and receipts.

Electronic file backups

Sub-series consists of electronic backups of housepress’s administrative and manuscript files.

Printed works portfolio

Series consists of publications and other printed materials created by LIDC and its predecessors for SFU client departments. LIDC graphic designers worked with SFU departments and faculty members to create prints materials to support university communications, faculty teaching, research and publication, campus events and departmental programs. This series comprises sample copies retained by LIDC as a kind of portfolio of work. The dates range from 1999 to 2014, with the bulk concentrating on the years 2008-2012.

Publications and events represented include SFU Open Houses in 2008 and 2012; the President's annual Faculty Lecture (2006-2010) and the Distinguished Leadership Award ceremonies (2007-2012); reports to the SFU community by the President, the Alumni Association, University Advancement, and SFU Woodward's Vancity Office of Community Engagement; SFU News supplements for the Office of Aboriginal People (2011, 2012); books produced on special occasions to honor SFU community members, including President Michael Stevenson (2010), Chancellor Brandt C. Louie (2011), and donor Djavad Mowafaghian (2011); alumni and donor events; academic programs and workshops, including the Canadian Centre for Studies in Publishing annual Summer Workshops (1999, 2007-2010); and a book project for Continuing Studies entitled History of Sex Work Vancouver: Who We Were / Who We Are (ca. 2006).

Record types include posters, invitations, brochures, reports and books, program catalogues and university promotional materials.
