Digital photographs

Series consists of digital photographs maintained by Fellman on two working computers, an iMac and a MacBook Pro. See the note on Arrangement in series 7 for more information about the organization of Fellman's computer files. The photos were managed in Mac's iPhoto applicable. Some images appear to have been uploaded directly from camera, but others are likely to have been received as considerably smaller derivatives of photos created by someone else. The original format for all still images was jpg. The series also includes three short home-movie videos (in files 3 and 8) stored as avi files.

The content of the photos document scenes from everyday life and includes pictures of family and grandchildren, gatherings of family and friends, vacation photos, and scenes from Fellman and Aloi's home on Pender Island, BC.

Director of Development

Series consists of records arising from the activities of the Director of Development. Series includes correspondence, memoranda, reports, manuals, promotional literature, photographs, and other materials.

Director of Student Services

Series consists of records relating to William (Bill) Stewart's work as the Director of Student Services and includes financial planning and budgets for Student Services departments; correspondence with the university community regarding student issues; participation on university committees; and records regarding projects and functions organized for the campus student population. Activities documented include liaison with individual student services including the Chaplain's Office, Counselling Service, Daycare Centre, Food Services, International Office, Health Services, Residences, Traffic and Security, Financial Aid, the Canada Employment Centre, and the Reading and Study Centre. Records include correspondence and working papers, financial statements and budgets, agendas and minutes, reports and statistics, newspaper clippings, contracts, photographs and publications including newsletters, brochures and posters.

Director of University Services

Series consists of records relating to Stephen Stratton's work as Director of University Services. Activities documented include new student orientation; wheelchair students on campus; participation on the Deans Fees Committee; projects including visits to local high schools and student placement; a proposal for integration of Financial Aid and the Resources Office; studies on student attrition and withdrawals; and liaison with student services including Day Care, Health Services, Counselling, and the Simon Fraser Student Society. Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, minutes and statistics.

Director's correspondence

Series consists of the Director's correspondence with other university departments and some external (non-SFU) organizations. While most of the correspondence relates to the functions of the Office of Analytical Studies, some of the correspondence was created by John Chase in his earlier roles as Academic Planner and chair of the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies.

Activities, events and topics documented include statistical data in response to requests from departments and administrators; course development; and allocation of university space.

Records include correspondence, proposals, reports, and statistics on enrollment, grades, teaching loads. salaries, instructional activity, student/faculty ratios and other academic issues.

Director's correspondence

Series consists of correspondence of the Director of Academic Planning. Correspondence includes letters received and copies of letters sent. Correspondents include members of the media, university administrators, and potential University employees and students. Materials relate to the formulation of University policies, the dissemination of information regarding the University, the staffing of the University, and other topics.

Series consists of the Director's correspondence with School program areas and faculty, other university departments and external (non-university) individuals and organizations. Activities and events documented include policy development, curriculum development, faculty and student relations, budget planning, facilities and space planning, liaison and collaboration with other university departments and external organizations and associations. Records include correspondence and reports; policies and procedures; meeting agendas and minutes; program and course proposals and descriptions; budget papers; notes and working papers; and printed reference material.

Director's correspondence files

Series consists of records relating to the Chair's/Director's correspondence with school program areas and faculty, other university programs, and external (non-university) individuals and organizations. Activities, events and topics documented include technical reports, graduate and undergraduate curriculum development, Faculty Association meetings and case files, interdisciplinary program development with other faculties, SFU's Speaker's Bureau, Student Society, involvement with professional organizations, and Ted Sterling's cancer research.

Records include correspondence, reports, notices, letters, budgets, proposals and working papers.

Doctoral thesis

Series consists of a bound volume entitled Researches in Physics. The volume contains Gordon Shrum's doctoral thesis, "The Doublet Separation of the Balmer Lines," and two reprints about Shrum's research with his doctoral supervisor, J. C. McLennan, on the liquefaction of hydrogen and helium.

Documents about J.J. Verigin

This series consist of documents written about J. J. Verigin in relation to his role as a leader of the USCC and his prominent role within the Doukhobor communities. The documents include: reports, accounts, opinions, statement, speech, biographies, song texts, hansard, newspaper and magazine clippings and articles. Most documents are in English, except one in Russian; all documents are printed.

Domestic Wines / Calona Wines

Series consists of records relating to Domestic Wines, and its successor Calona Wines. Included are correspondence, newspaper clippings, reports, shipping orders, invoices, notes, a notebook, minutes and annual reports.

Douglas & McIntyre files

Series consists of correspondence, notes, memos and minutes documenting the sale of Antonson Publishing’s assets to Douglas & McIntyre (D&M), and Rick Antonson’s subsequent role as Vice President, then member of D&M’s board of directors.

Doukhobor songs records

This series consists of the correspondence, notebooks, list and texts of Russian and Doukhobor songs, hymns, psalms and poems. These records were created and collected with an aim to compiled "Sbornik" a collection of Doukhobor songs. Some of the correspondence is with potential publishers and printers.

Dr. Gordon Merritt Shrum papers

Sub-series consists of records made and received by Dr. Shrum in the course of his activities as Chancellor. Subjects and activities documented include planning and construction of the university, selection of architects (including the lead design firm Erickson Massey Architects), meetings of the Buildings and Site Committee, correspondence with various architects, speaking engagements, fundraising, and correspondence with external agencies. Record types include correspondence, meeting agenda and minutes, memoranda, reports, and transcripts of two interviews (with Clive Cocking and Peter Stursberg). Correspondents whose names appear in file titles are registered as Access Points.

Dr. Kenneth P. Caple papers

Series consists of records made and received by Dr. Kenneth P. Caple in the course of carrying out the duties of Chancellor. It includes correspondence and rolls of congratula.

Dr. Paul T. Cote papers

Series consists of records made and received by Dr. Paul T. Coté in the course of carrying out the duties of Chancellor. It includes correspondence and memoranda.

Draft manuscript files

Series consists of one file labeled “Manuscript – A Very Ordinary Life”. The papers inside are annotated and heavily edited at times.

Drawing the line records

Series consists of records created and accumulated by the Kiss and Tell collective during the production, exhibition, and promotion of the photographic exhibition “Drawing the Line” and the book “Drawing the Line: Lesbian Sexual Politics on the Wall.” Records include photographs, correspondence, exhibition specifications and guidelines, promotional and press materials, and articles. Photographs include not only those 98 images ultimately selected for use the “Drawing the Line” exhibition, but also many more photographs taken by Stewart in the process of creating the artwork, as well as photographs of the exhibition itself.

Drawings

Series consists of illustrations and graphs by Thelma Finlayson and copies of publications written or co-authored by her. Drawings depict structure and detail of larvae, cocoons, puparia, spiracles, and other insect anatomy. File F-37-5-0-0-10 and files numbered from F-37-5-0-0-12 through to F-37-5-0-0-35 are drawings associated with "The Systematics and Taxonomy of final-instar larvae of the family Aphidiidae (Hymenoptera)" publication, which is protected by copyright, and the copyright for these drawings subsits with the Entomological Society of Canada.

Duthie Books 40th anniversary project files

Series is comprised of records gathered and produced for the fortieth anniversary of Duthie Books, celebrated in 1997. Records include photographs, correspondence, notes, drafts and ephemera.

Earth project

This series consists primarily of business records, particularly fundraising activities, and promotional materials associated with the conception, development and execution of the Earth Symposium (2004) and Festival (2005).

The series is comprised of the following sub-series: Sub-series 1: Administrative records (2001-2009); Sub-series 2: Financial records ([ca. 2002]-2006); Sub-series 3: Grants/fundraising records (2002-2009); Sub-series 4: Production/performance records (2002-2009): Sub-series 5: Promotional records (2001-2009).

East India Carpets business records

This series contains material associated with records relating to the successful carpet business Ajaib started in 1948. After leaving military service he spent time in India training and returned to Canada to start East India Carpets in 1948. The business began as wholesale until expanding; the family has maintained their current retail location on 2nd street since 1962.
The series is divided into 2 sub-series: Photographs and Textual records.

Eating fire

Series consists of sound recordings of interviews undertaken by Michael Riordon for Eating Fire: Family Life on the Queer Side (Between the Lines, 2001). Interviews were undertaken across Canada.

Editorial correspondence and related records

Series consists of correspondence between the publisher, sub-contractors, vendors, promoters and authors. Most files contain instructions and drafts as to editorial layout, typesetting, artwork, etc. Records include: correspondence, style sheets, contracts, invoices, grant applications, editorial copy, galley proofs, newspaper clippings, magazines, cartoons, photographs and a poster.

Series consists of records generated from editorial work on chapbooks and issues of "filling Station" magazine. These include page proofs, edited submissions, commissioned artwork, writer’s guidelines, and production instructions.
